It is the government, with no resistance from the leading opposition parties, that has got us into the position we are in regarding the developer-led planning that is ongoing in our town and surrounding parishes. The government has relaxed the planning laws and the Government Planning Inspectors are invariably upholding developer appeals. The Inspectors will cite the lack of a Cheshire East Council (CEC) 5-year housing supply and associate little (or no) weight to the submission version of the CEC Local Plan when deciding appeals. We feel very strongly that towns, parishes and local communities should not be punished for the current lack of an approved Local Plan and associated housing supply. One of the few ways we have for changing these policies is to lobby the the government so we strongly urge you to write to the politicians that are creating the mess we are in.
Please click on the sub-menu on the right for further details on why to lobby and to get the MP Details.
Below are a few suggestions of points to raise in your letters/emails. Always copy your email or letter to your own MP because he or she is the person most in need of your vote. If you go to the trouble of writing a letter then copy it extensively to other politicians and to newspapers as well. Don’t forget to include local councillors and the chairmen of local political associations.
Decision making coming from anywhere but locally elected and responsible councils
Sustainability criteria are not really and truly sustainable
The Local Plan and community needs are being ignored so that places are being ruined
Planning is being developer-led and does not satisfy identified local needs
Communities mind losing their green spaces
